A bitter taste of occupation

On Wednesday the 3rd of February The Norwegian-Israeli Chamber of Commerce carried out a wine tasting with wine from Hebron Heights Winery and Golan Heights Winery. Activists from the social center Blitz in Oslo moved out to protest against this.

The Norwegian-Israeli Chamber of Commerce is an organization working for an increase in commercial trade between Norway and Israel. By their latest event they make clear that they do not have any moral concerns about promoting goods from some of the worst settlements on the West Bank.

Hebron Heights Winery is located in the Israeli settlement Kiryat Arba in the outskirts of Hebron. The settlement is reconned as one of the more fanatic on West Bank. Kiryat Arba was founded by one of the rightwing leaders of the settler movement, Moshe Levinger. Levinger has carried out numerous violent attacks on Palestinians in and around Hebron. In addition, the settlement was also the home of  Baruch Goldstein, who in 1994 carried out the Cave of the Patriarchs massacre, killing 29 Palestinians.

By reaching out to such extreme settlers the Norwegian-Israeli Chamber of Commerce shows that they are not afraid of legitimizing and supporting a brutal and illegal occupation by any means possible.

Ufortunatly Hebron Heights Winery is just a small piece of a big problem. The occupation concerns all aspects of Palestinan life, and in the last couple of months we have witnessed that every form of resistance is brutaly struck down.

Because of this activists from the social centre Blitz in Oslo have carried out a blockade outside the venue to make sure that this reprehensible tasting of repression in a bottle won't take place. We hope that this action sends out a clear message that this wine, as well as all other goods from the occupied West Bank, will not be tolerated under any circumstances. War Profit from the Israeli occupation will not go unnoticed.
